Artisans' Sustainable Development Foundation (ASDF)
The Humanity of Handmade
ARTISANS' Sustainable Development Foundation (ASDF) aims to empower creative livelihoods, preserve cultural identity, and ensure that handmade is a force for human dignity, equity, and cultural continuity. Our work is guide by a simple but far-reaching idea: recognising artisans not as producers, but creators and custodians of cultural knowledge.

At Leshemi Origins, Nagaland, northeast India, we collaborate with artisans as co-creators, to build a future beyond sustainable livelihoods, where craft is a meaningful expression of identity, authorship, cultural inheritance, and economic resilience.

In an increasingly standardised global world, ASDF believes India’s locally handmade objects carry value beyond the marketplace, to demonstrate that artisanal design cn be viable, valuable, and vital.
Keeping Handmade Human
ASDF places cultural context, collaboration, and community at the very centre. We invest in the ecosystems that sustain living craft economies: from design education and value creation, to enterprise and leadership development.
