Shantanu Das, born in 1983, comes from a long line of Madhubani painters. He began aiding his uncle, acclaimed Madhubani painter Santosh Kumar Das, in the early 2000s and developed skill in the traditional line style. In 2017, he and his wife Mahalaxmi showcased their work at the International Folk Art Market in Santa Fe, USA. Currently, they reside in Ranti, a village within the Madhubani district, dedicated to the practice of Madhubani art.
