I personally don't like brown, so I kept avoiding upcycling it. But I have a responsibility towards the donors, so I reluctantly set to work. Initially I tried to brighten the saree by adding a contrasting yellow or orange. But that didn't work. Finally I chose a dull olive green, to complement the brown, and added a narrow hand made border and a Banarasi brocade, both in the same shade. I think this sari is one of the best I have made so far. She had impeccable taste,” says Roy.
