This embroidered textile art is made with the skilled Rabari women artisans of Kutch, in western India. Hand-painted silk fabric remnants form an upcycled patchwork base for free-form embroidery which deliberately breaks free of traditional forms, allowing for a spontaneous flow of mark-making.
This contemporary textile art keeps embroidery skills alive, while opening new markets for traditional craftswomen.
