Light up the festive season with handcrafted bamboo tealights, created by women from marginalised communities. These bamboo holders are skillfully crafted by Kotwalia artisans from Dang and other tribal districts of Gujarat, where bamboo is plentiful. Nomadic Mir women add beading to the tealights. At present the project employs 25 Kotwalia artisans and 12 Mir artisans.
With growing industrialisation, these communities are losing their cultural identity and traditional lifestyles. This project aims to create sustainable local livelihoods. Proceeds support artisans and NGOs and help to sustain communities and the environment.
