Khadi is any cloth that is hand-spun and hand-woven. In 1918 Mahatma Gandhi started his movement for khadi as spinning and weaving became increasingly integral to an ideology of self-reliance and self-governance. Khadi symbolized the need for, and importance of, indigenous manufactured goods.

Ssahaworks a grassroots creative laboratory that does extensive research and development to combine khadi with other natural fibres in an effort to increase the material’s popularity and accessibility in twenty-first century fashion.
