Usha Shah   |   22 April 2015 - 23 April 2015

Usha relishes each and every one of her adventures and always takes the opportunity to learn more about the culture and history of each place she visits. She brings this same curiosity and fresh energy to and constructing her jewelry. “There has to be something unique that initially excites me. Either the stone or material is rare, or it is cut in a unique way.”

Her latest collection is interwoven with memories of her travels in Europe. Highlights include - 100 year old resin beads from Bedouin nomads and trading beads from Amsterdam dating back to the 1400s; these beads, sometimes known as slave beads, were at one time used as currency in exchange for slaves, services, and goods.

Some pieces turn into delicate works with subtle elements while others are bold and dramatic. Each piece has been touched by many hands throughout history and carries these stories with it.
